Zack Telander - 8 Week, 2 Day Squat Cycle
(Originally found here, by Zack Telander on Patreon)
Program Cliffs:
- 8 Weeks, 2 Days per week of only the Squat
- This is not a comprehensive cycle or a competition prep
- It is either Front Squat or Back Squat, your choosing.
- He comments these percentages/loading can used as an example of how programming could be done as part of a larger cycle.
- The comments suggest this could be a good way to program squats for longer legged or taller lifters. See below for his comments:
- Longer lifters like myself shouldn't approach maximal strength with a lot of volume in the cycle prior or even during a strength cycle.
- The distance they cover in their reps causes far too much fatigue and ends up being degrading relatively quick.
- This was the opposite of what I had thought (I have skinny bitch legs and I miss cleans because I cant stand them up. 10's for me!).
- Once fatigue occurs (intra-set) lifters tend to predominantly use their back to finish the reps.
- In turn they are not properly attacking the legs as a tool to train for the cleans.
- Please read the post here, as this will help with decision making.
- This is a free program posted by Zack Telander
- Feel free to contact the author directly for tips on adding to this program.
- Comments on the Patreon link suggest he may have a pay-for program that shows this cycle implemented into a full routine.
