'Americanized/US' Bulgarian Program
(Originally from Podium Gold Weightlifting, now defunct)
(This is a word document of the program and this is an image file of the program found online)
(Bonus: Hysen video from some lifting at Podium Gold)
Program Cliffs:
- Please review the above discussion threads
- This program was designed by Alex Krychev and Abadjiev
- It is an "Americanized" or "US" style Bulgarian program
- It was supposedly designed for drug-free lifters using a Bulgarian approach
- This program was found online. I have not edited the spreadsheet.
- 16 Week Program, leading to a competition day
- 6 Days per week of lifting
- 2 sessions per day, AM and PM
- Thursday session is bar work for both snatch and C&J
- Sessions have a listed estimated total time for each session i.e. 2hrs, 1.5hrs
- This program is classics only. There is no technique work in this program
- There is plenty of reading material available regarding Bulgarian style programming
- Please become familiar with this prior to considering this regimen of weightlifting
- It should be noted the intensity of this style of programming. Searching the document:
- There are 2 instances of lifts at 80%, 15 lifts at 85%
- There are 114 instances of lifts at 90%, 124 lifts at 95%, 167 at 100%
- Lifts that are listed at a given % without sets and reps are designed to be performed for a single rep only, then move to the next exercise
- Notably, Week 9 and Week 14 are identical
- Week 15 consists of only afternoon sessions and Week 16 only 3 days
- These two weeks are tapering, leading to a competition on Sunday
- The program theoretically could run 11 total weeks: Week 1-9, Weeks 15 and 16
- Possibly utilized during a break between semesters for a university lifter
